Handmade is Best

When I took up knitting a little over a year ago, I didn’t know how addicting it was going to be! I knit at some point every single day. Blankets, scarves, and eventually sweaters. I never got into hats. I made a few but just didn’t enjoy it!

It became more than just a hobby. I wanted to make everything! I still wish I could create my own entire wardrobe. I have a sewing machine and would love to learn to use it well enough to sew together my own tees and dresses!

I’ve always loved clothing, but have a really hard time finding exactly the styles I want. My tees have to be just the right softness, color, and designs. So I find one I love and end up wearing it over and over again. With knitting, I’ve been able to make my own sweaters in styles I always dreamed of having but could never find. Or if I did find them, they were outrageously expensive.

Besides being a fun hobby, it’s fun to have things that are unique. If I design them, they’re items that nobody else has. And if I knit from a pattern, it’s unlikely I’ll ever run into someone wearing the exact same thing. They’re items that will be cherished and mean something to me. Not some thing I bought from a store and really could care less about after a few wears.

Cotton knits are by far my favorite! They’re incredibly soft and warm. They can be knit more lightweight for warmer months or heavier for the cooler times. I’m currently working on a cotton baby blanket for my babys arrival this summer and am so excited to finish it! I also have a few maternity style top ideas I want to knit up here soon. Hoping I have the time to get it all in!😂

Thanks for reading and hope your week is going by beautifully!

❤️ Bethany

I have the same problem! I never find what I like. I would love to be able to make my own clothes and I honestly love the knits you shared. Would love if you could share the patterns too. I took up crocheting, but wouldn’t mind trying knitting too.

Oh thank you so much!! Making your own clothing is just so fun! You can choose colors, designs, make what you’re able! I have a couple of my patterns for sale on Ravelry, but might switch back to Etsy. I would love to learn to crochet! I love those granny squares! Thank you for your comment and hope you have a great night!

We are building a new home this year, but as soon as I’m settled in, I’m going to enroll in some classes to learn to sew for sure! Have a wonderful evening too!
