The Love Big Hooded Sweater Design

Say hello to the love big hooded sweater! This big, warm, valentines inspired hoodie is a hybrid of my winter blues pullover and the max hooded cardigan. It’s not too long in length, but not short either. It hits at a level that’s perfect for easy wearability!

I wanted to do something different for detail on this one and went with a mesh stitch to create a heart on the front. It actually took me two tries to get it right, I was having the hardest time trying to do the maths on this! I was so excited when I got it! I am not a math person.

Per most of my chunky knit designs, this sweater is an easy and quickish knit. I used 15mm needles for the ribbing, then my lovely 25mm needles for the remainder of it. You’ll have a new sweater in just a few days, or hours if you’re ambitious!

I made little hearts at the end of each sleeve using the duplicate stitch method. Super easy and quick. If you’ve never worked duplicate stitch, this will be the perfect chance to try it out as it’s just a small detail.

Skill level for this design is easy or beginner. You’ll need to know how to do the longtail cast on, twisted ribbing, stockinette stitch, picking up stitches, increase stitch, and seaming. I promise you’ll have no problem doing it!

    One Month until Valentines Day!

One month until Valentines Day! Who’s excited?! I looove Valentines Day. All the pretty pink and red and flowers and love. Everything is so cute and happy. I love spending the whole month before valentines day in the Valentine’s Day mood. I mean, why not.

The next month is going to fly by, so now is the perfect time to get started on your Valentines sweater! Wear it for your valentines coffee run, lounging around home, or date nights! Plus, if you’re lucky enough to be reading this now, the Candy Hearts sweater pattern is $4 for the weekend! 👏🏻 Get it here!

My candy hearts sweater pattern is one of my favorites that I always wear around Valentines Day. I’m actually hoping to have another new design up this year, we’ll see if I get the time! But for now, this one is the one I wear.

This is a beginner friendly and easy pattern. New knitters won’t have any problem working this one up! The “hearts” on the front are optional, but are just made using the duplicate stitch method. The remainder of the candy hearts sweater is knit in stockinette stitch and a couple rows of yarn overs with a knit two together. Like that’s it. You got this.

The colors and yarn I used for this sweater are We Are Knitters petite wool in “millennial pink” for the body pieces, and the We Are Knitters meriwool in “sprinkle fantasy” for the sleeves. The hearts were made using scrap petite wool colors.

If you’d like to make this sweater larger or smaller, it’s super easy to adjust. I would say this is an adult sized medium. For a larger size. simply add 8 stitches to your cast on and knit an extra 6 rows. For a smaller fit, deduct 6 stitches from your cast on and deduct 4 rows from the length.

Here’s a couple of the candy hearts sweaters that have been knit up by you lovely people!

  • The Wild Love Bomber Cardi Pattern

The Wild Love Bomber Cardi Pattern

My latest design, the Wild Love Bomber Cardi Pattern. This design is made using Wool and the Gangs shiny happy cotton, an Aran/worsted weight yarn, and size 5mm straight knitting needles.

The majority of this sweater is an easy knit and knit flat in five separate pieces. The back, two front panels, and the sleeves. After completing the knitting, the sweater is seamed up using the invisible horizontal and vertical seaming methods. The stitches used include 1×1 twisted ribbing, stockinette stitch, and garter stitch. The sleeves have increases, which are very easy to do once you have gotten the hang of it.

The only thing that I wouldn’t consider so easy, is the picking up stitches for the edging on the front and creating the button holes. The pattern does include the link where I learned to create the buttonholes if further assistance is needed.

The fit style of the Wild Love Bomber Cardi is a relaxed, cozy, and slightly oversized feel. Perfect for layering over a tank or tee, any season. I am loving the retro style vibes of it! I had a photo of my dad from when he was probably in his 20’s tucked in my notebook and it must have kind of influenced the vibe. ❤️

The pattern for this cardigan is available in my Etsy shop, by going to the Shop link in the Menu above.
