September brings a changing of seasons and a time for new fresh knits. A season to re embrace knitwear and pick up your needles again if you tend to put them down during the warmer summer months. Start out with this simple oversized pullover vest, knit in a fluffy light wool and ready to style your autumn knitwear aesthetic.
The Everly vest was knit using size 10 mm (US 15) straight knitting needles and around 450 yards of We Are Knitters “meriwool” in hand painted. The colorway of this yarn is absolutely beautiful. We Are Knitters no longer sells this particular yarn, but I did manage to come across a few sellers online with it if you’d like to use the exact yarn. Otherwise, any chunky weight yarn will do, including We Are Knitters yummy yarn.
This sweater vest uses basic knitting skills. You’ll start with a longtail cast on followed by a 1×1 twisted rib, stockinette stitch, bind off, decreases, and picking up stitches. Once you’ve finished knitting the body panels, seaming will finish it off.
The Everly vest is perfect for these coming cooler days. Layer it over a turtleneck for the falls days of coffee and shopping, apple orchard, pumpkin patch, or over a heavier top for bonfire evenings. Come warmer weather, wear it over a tank as a classy sweater top.
