Christmas Snowgirl Sweater

I hope everybody had a fabulous thanksgiving! We decided on a whim to go to Minnesota for a couple days to be with my family for thanksgiving dinner. We then did a little shopping on Friday for some Christmas gifts and other essentials we can’t get at home.:) Then Friday evening we went over to visit my best friend and her husband and kids. Was a short and super amazing trip!

I released this new sweater pattern thanksgiving evening, called the Christmas snowgirl sweater. It’s a cozy chunky knit with a duplicate stitch snowman girl on the front. I knit a little scarf for her with some of my favorite yarn, We Are Knitters “yarnicorn”, and then found some cute emerald green Swarovski rhinestone buttons on Amazon. I made little yellow pom pom ear muffs and then more duplicate stitches for the ear muffs band.

This is a fairly quick knit and could easily be knit up in a few days. My knitting time is pretty sporadic so I can’t ever quite place exactly how long it takes. But it was about a week of work with an hr or so of knitting per day.

Basic skills are required for knitting this sweater. It starts with a standard longtail cast on, then a few rows worked in 1×1 twisted ribbing, followed by stockinette stitch fir the remainder of the piece. There are some decreases for the front neckline and increases for the sleeves. And then, of course, you’ll need to know duplicate stitch, which is super easy if you haven’t done it before.

I’m really excited to wear this sweater for the holiday season! It’s just got a happy festive vibe to it and is so warm and cozy to top it off. Plus, you’ll make everyone else happy too wearing it. You know, when they look at it. 😉

The Holiday Season is here!

Technically, it kind of isn’t, but at the same time, it kind of is. We’ve always waited until thanksgiving evening to put up the tree and all the Christmas decorations and reaaally get the Christmas vibes going. Which I probably will still. But on the knitwear and knitting side of things, let all of the holiday vibes commence! 🎄

The left sweater is last years Christmas design and the right is the years before. I absolutely looove designing and knitting Christmas sweaters! It’s so festive and fun and gets me that much more excited for the season.

Then you have all the coffee shops bringing out the holiday drinks, which is just the best. Although I’m quite unimpressed that Starbucks isn’t having the egg nog latte this year. That’s the only holiday drink I like there! At least I can get it at Caribou when we go out of town, and I’ve figured out how to make them at home as well. But still, kind of a bummer!

We took a day trip to the “city” over the weekend and I kind of did a little splurging at Target on all things Christmas. Including a snowman toilet seat cover and rug. My husband wasn’t with me in the store, a couple of my daughters were, and we hurried to check out when he texted that he was coming in with the boys. I showed him the toilet seat cover, when we got home, and he asked how old did I think we were? 🤣 It was too cute to pass up. Much as I wanted to put all the stuff up right away, I put everything in a bag in the closet to save for after thanksgiving. Sigh. Willpower needed!

Back to the sweaters. This sweater is seriously the coziest thing ever. It was my first time using the big cotton from Loopy Mango and I love it. The yarn is so gorgeous and silky soft, and has a perfectly heavy drape to it. You must try it at some point! Maybe to knit this Christmas sweater?!

Then we have the Christmas tree sweater. I knit that one in Wool and the Gangs shiny happy cotton, but you can use We Are Knitters “the cotton” as well, or any other similar weight yarn. It’s been a favorite of many! That was my first time doing the duplicate stitch technique and I fell in love with it. It’s so fun to add a little something to really make it stand out!

This was my Christmas outfit last year (won’t be this year as I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant) unless I can somehow find red maternity leggings, which would be amazing. It felt so fun to dress up in something festive that I made!

I will have another sweater for the holidays coming soon! I am super excited about it and hope to have it for you all by thanksgiving! And no worries, it’ll be a quick knit.:)

Happy Love Co Kids!

It’s been a long time coming! I’ve had many many requests for kids and toddler patterns over the past couple years and finally, my first two are out!

These two patterns are basic and simple. They are made for fitting roughly ages 1-5 years old. First, we have a pullover with a basic stitch and a cozy slouchy fit. This one is called The Little Cuddles sweater. It’s knit using a super chunky weight wool, sizes 15mm and 25mm straight knitting needles, and works up insanely quick. I mean, like if your little love needs a sweater tomorrow, here you go! As long as you have the spare yarn, of course.

I used a couple skeins of We Are Knitters “the wool” in yarnicorn that I had laying around for this one. Then some accent colors I also had. Maybe 1/2 skein of each. The only skills you need for this one are twisted rib (if you knit my patterns, you know I always use this!), stockinette stitch, bind off, and seaming. Literally it.

Next up is the cutest little oversized cardigan. This one is called the Just Like Mamas cardigan. As it’s a mini of my big designs.:) This one is also knit using a super chunky weight yarn, and sizes 15mm and 25mm straight knitting needles. And it knits up just as fast as the other sweater.

There’s one extra skill needed for the cardigan, which is being able to pick up stitches. Otherwise, it’s all the same stitches and techniques as the other sweater. Easy peasy.
