    Happy Love Co Kids!

It’s been a long time coming! I’ve had many many requests for kids and toddler patterns over the past couple years and finally, my first two are out!

These two patterns are basic and simple. They are made for fitting roughly ages 1-5 years old. First, we have a pullover with a basic stitch and a cozy slouchy fit. This one is called The Little Cuddles sweater. It’s knit using a super chunky weight wool, sizes 15mm and 25mm straight knitting needles, and works up insanely quick. I mean, like if your little love needs a sweater tomorrow, here you go! As long as you have the spare yarn, of course.

I used a couple skeins of We Are Knitters “the wool” in yarnicorn that I had laying around for this one. Then some accent colors I also had. Maybe 1/2 skein of each. The only skills you need for this one are twisted rib (if you knit my patterns, you know I always use this!), stockinette stitch, bind off, and seaming. Literally it.

Next up is the cutest little oversized cardigan. This one is called the Just Like Mamas cardigan. As it’s a mini of my big designs.:) This one is also knit using a super chunky weight yarn, and sizes 15mm and 25mm straight knitting needles. And it knits up just as fast as the other sweater.

There’s one extra skill needed for the cardigan, which is being able to pick up stitches. Otherwise, it’s all the same stitches and techniques as the other sweater. Easy peasy.

I hope you enjoy! The patterns are available by clicking the menu button above, under Shop.

And don’t forget to share your photos of the finished pieces with me! I love seeing the colors you all come up with.

  • Old Skool Halloween Sweater

    Old Skool Halloween Sweater

If you’re looking for a super quick knit for the Halloween season, this is it! Knit on sizes 15mm and 25mm knitting needles, it can easily be a weekend project! Or day project if you’re really invested. You’ll need 5 skeins of We Are Knitters “the wool”, plus a few accent colors. I just had scrap yarn lying around and used that. 🙂

The fit of this sweater is my go to oversized. For those of you who will want to adjust sizing, it’s very easy to do!

I’m 6 months pregnant wearing this for example. It’s very forgiving!

Because I love themed donuts. And really themed everything.

And check out the fun mesh stitch on the bottom! I love adding a little random detail somewhere. This sweater just has old skool vibes to it and I’m loving it. 🧡🎃

The pattern is available in my Etsy shop. Click the Shop button in the menu link to get your copy!

  • My Favorite Wool Yarns

    My Favorite Wool Yarns

When I first started knitting, I had absolutely no clue where to look for yarn. We don’t have any yarn stores within hours of us so I had to look online. I actually first found knitcollage.com and fell in love with the colors and sparkles. I ordered a few skeins from there and tried it out. It’s absolutely stunning yarn, but a bit out of my price range. It’s fun for a unique project once in awhile.

My go to is We Are Knitters “the wool” or Wool and the Gangs “crazy sexy wool”. For a few reasons. I love the look of it. It’s gorgeous. It’s a yarn I could just stare and for hours and envision all the lovely pieces it could create. Second, if you catch it on sale or buy a bundle, it’s not that badly priced. I know a lot of people still don’t want to spend that much, but if you’re knitting something you’re going to keep forever, it’s worth it. I really only order these yarns for my wool projects. Plus, they knit up super quick, which is what we all want!

My very top color way and choice is by far We Are Knitters “the wool” in the color way yarnicorn. It’s a fav of everyone. It sells out super quick every time they restock it and I highly recommend getting on their email list so you can snag a few skeins when it’s available! This yarn is so breathtaking that you could honestly knit anything and it’s going to be spectacular. It’s that good.

All of my chunky wool knit patterns are knit in either of these yarns and you can swap between the two as they work up and gauge the same. I swear there is nothing more exciting than picking out new colors for projects. It’s the highlight of every design I create!

If you’re looking for patterns in these yarns, click the shop button in the menu above! A couple favorites of many is the winter blues sweater and the lost road trip cardigan pictured below. The winter blues sweater is an easy pattern and many have knit it as their first sweater! The lost road trip cardigan is a bit more for advanced beginners, but can be knit easier if preferred. I’ve had a few people ask how to knit it without the distressing details, and all you will do is simply knit in stockinette stitch, without adding the make ones (except for sleeve increases), yarn overs, or dropping stitches. If you decide not to do those, it’s an easy level.:)

    Happy knitting!
