    The Williston summer cardigan

My new summer cardigan pattern has just been released! This was such a fun cardigan to design and even knit. I didn’t have too much knitting time in the past month, so I could have finished it a lot sooner. But I’m so happy with the way it turned out!

It’s a basic knitted piece, but I added a bunch of extra cute things to make it a little more unique. I had so many cotton yarn skeins laying around and I just love all the colors together, so I figured I’d put them to use. I honestly couldn’t be happier with the result!

The skills you’re going to need for this piece are fairly basic. I’d say if you’re an advanced beginner, you’ll do just fine. You’ll need to know the longtail cast on, stockinette stitch, 1×1 twisted ribbing, making a new stitch, yarn over, knit two stitches together, bind off, picking up stitches, and seaming. If you don’t know a few, you’ll still be good! They’re fairly easy to learn.

Being this piece is knit in cotton, it’s lightweight and breathable. It’s perfect for the summer mornings and evenings when you need to throw on an extra layer for a little bit!

You’ll need 8 skeins of We Are Knitters “the cotton” or a similar worsted/aran weight yarn. I used maybe half of each skein! It doesn’t take much. Needle sizes required are a 5mm (US 8) and a 6.5mm (US 10.5). You could use just the 6.5 if needed. I used the 5mm just for ribbing on the body pieces.

  • The Zola Crop Cardi

I can’t believe it’s already almost Christmas! The weeks are flying by so fast I can’t even keep up. I pretty much did all the Christmas shopping for my kids last weekend, so I’m feeling set there. I was planning on doing Christmas baking last week, but we had a nasty illness go through the house, so that got put on the back burner. I needed a little instant gratification, so there was born the Zola Crop cardi.

I picked up my big ol 25mm needles and a bunch of scrap wool yarns I had laying around and got to work. A few hours of work led to this cardigan.

It’s got a cropped fit, fun stripes, and a basic oversized fit. You know that’s how I roll.

Since it’s got a cropped length, there’s really not much bulk feel going on. It’s easy wearability and perfect for those cold winter evenings. Or days.

It’s a perfect sweater for beginners to try out! You won’t spend too much time on it and you can get a good feel for the 25mm needles. If you knit any of my winter sweaters, they’re almost all on 25mm needles. I love using the big needles because it really showcases the softness of the yarn.

  • The Summer Dream Tee Design

I hope you all have been having a wonderful fun filled summer! Crazy it’s almost over. We only had our last blizzard just over three months ago! It oddly feels like summer has only just started. Hopefully this year is a late start and early end to winter to make up for the last!

Meanwhile, I finished this summer going into fall tee this week! I had this one planned out back in June, but with the constant traveling of this summer, I haven’t had much time to work on it. So it was a little bit of a long work in progress for something that’s a decently quick knit!

I love the feel of garter stitch and when it’s knit with this bamboo from We Are Knitters, it made for such an amazing piece. It’s silky soft and has a slightly heavier feel thanks to the garter stitch!

If you can do twisted rib, garter stitch, and picking up stitches, you’ll have no problem with this one! It’s a perfect tee for heading into fall as well, so while it’s called the summer dream tee, it will go much further!

I had originally planned it to be a solid green, but unfortunately ran out and I’m actually glad I did. I had some white bamboo too so added that on for the front. Then I added some pretty cotton to make stripes! And I love how it turned out!
