  • The Nova Shawl Sweater

Hey guys! Last weekend I released a new design, just in time for these cold wintery days coming up! We already had our first snowfall last week and it was a doozy. We had drifts in our front halfway up the porch. I even shoveled the walk! Honestly our last storm was at the end of April and it feels so recent that it seemed completely normal for it to be snowing again. It was melted within a couple days and we now have green grass again though. And I’m planning to completely enjoy it while I can!

I live in yoga pants. Like live in them. There are days I put on jeans if I’m running out or if I’m traveling, but at home, yoga pants. And I wanted a piece that I could wear with them easily. The idea of a shawl came to mind.

The nova shawl is knit in one long piece on a set of 15mm straight knitting needles. Any beginner knitter won’t have a problem doing this one! It uses basic stitches and I added a fun little design to the sleeves to mix things up! Still just using your basic knit and purl stitch.

I love how cozy it is! And easy enough to just throw over my workout outfit in the morning. Plus it can be styled for a fancy outfit. Fancy meaning like jeans and a nice top. Haha. Or if you want to get even fancier, wear it with a dress! But you get my point, it’s such a versatile wear.

I used “the wool” from We Are Knitters for this project, because it’s my absolute favorite. I’d love to knit this piece again in another color! They have too many gorgeous shades, but this one’s perfect for matching with just about anything.

This pattern is available in my Etsy shop, by clicking the shop link in the menu above! Hope you enjoy! And don’t forget to share your finished shawl with me when you’re done!

  • The Fall Play date toddler Cardigan

Another new arrival for toddlers! The fall play date hooded cardigan! With ears to boot. My daughter wanted a cardigan that would make her be a cat, so that’s what she got! 😂 I’m so happy with how it turned out and she was beyond ecstatic!

I used We Are Knitters petite wool for this cardigan. It’s got a mix of garter stitch and stockinette, with a little 1×1 twisted ribbing for the cuffs and the finishing trim.

Its got a cozy oversized slouchy feel. That way she can throw it on over a long sleeve and it won’t be too tight or restricting of movement. She can crawl around like a cat with no problem!

The hood is perfectly sized where it won’t drape over her eyes or fall down from being too big. Hoods are a bit of trial and error to get sizing right, so I’m happy this worked out!

    Happy fall knitting!

  • The September Dreams Cardigan

You cannot go wrong with yarnicorn. You really cannot. This yarn shade from We Are Knitters is just stunning. If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I love it. My winter magic sweater, my lost road trip cardigan, and now the September Dreams cardigan have all been knit with it. This time, instead of “the wool”, it’s knit in the petite wool. A lighter yarn, just as warm and cozy!

This cardigan is a knit that’s perfect for beginners wanting to learn a couple extra skills. The ribbing is knit in a 1×1 twisted rib, the body pieces are knit in your standard stockinette stitch, and you’ll pick up stitches for your edging around the front.

I basically first had the idea for this back design. I really wanted a long cardigan with a slit up the back. And when I figured out the method to do that, the rest fell into place.

It’s got the coziness of a blanket and robe together. It’s the perfect fall piece. Strolling the pumpkin patch, sipping on your pumpkin coffee. In my case, always the iced. I wonder if I’ll ever try a warm coffee.

I knit the September Dreams cardigan using size 12mm or US size 19 straight knitting needles. It used roughly 8 skeins of the We Are Knitters petite wool.

The pattern is available on both Etsy and my shop, by clicking the shop button in the menu above. 🙂 Hope you enjoy!
